A Preliminary Discussion on the Ideology of Imperial Power in the Han Dynasty
The ideology of every era always belongs to the ruling class,and the ideology of the ruling class is concentrated in the form of national ideology.The study of national ideology during a certain period is a key to understand the political and socio-cultural thoughts of that time.After the unification of Qin,the Han Dynasty set up a stable imperial dynasty at first,and correspond-ingly established a national ideology which centered on monarchy.The basic ideological elements of it were the divine empower-ment of the emperor,the sole respect of the emperor,rule of rites order,the people being the foundation of the state,and es-tablishing the country based on agriculture.These five elements constituted an internal logical system of thought,and through the indoctrination and implementation of the whole society,an impregnable fortress of ideology and concepts was constructed.Its purpose is to consolidate the order of imperial society.
