Urban Memory and Literary Perception:Description of Nanjing in History Commenting Ci Poetry in the First and Middle Period of the Qing Dynasty
In the history commenting ci poetry about Nanjing in the first and middle period of the Qing Dynasty,the alias"Jinling"was often used.This situation was related to the implication of"wang qi"of"Jinling"and the thinking set caused by the literati of all dynasties linking it to comment history.They discussed around this alias,and further enriched and deepened its connota-tion."Jinling",in a sense,was transformed from the city alias to cultural code.In the Qing Dynasty,poets who commenting Nanjing often mentioned the Six Dynasties.Their commenting of the Six Dynasties contained the reflection of the Ming Dynas-ty.When commented the Ming Dynasty,most poets put the Six Dynasties in a control position.The Six Dynasties can be called the shadow of the Ming Dynasty,while Nanjing was the mirror reflecting the shadow.During the reign of Emperor Yongzheng and Emperor Qianlong,some of the history commenting ci poetry about Nanjing decreased the contents about the destruction of the country significantly,which was related to the strength of the Qing Dynasty and the prosperity of Nanjing at that time.Although the depth of thought was relatively lacking,these ci poems still had certain significance and value of the history of ci poetry.
