From"Extending Knowledge by Investigating Things"to"the Unity of Knowledge and Action":On the Practical Character of Pub-lishing Studies
The publishing activity is the practice of producing and transmitting knowledge.The practicality of publishing determines the practical character of publishing studies.From the publishing phenomenon,through observation and reflection,it is possi-ble to reveal the mode of existence and operation law of the publishing phenomenon and realize a leap in knowledge from per-ceptual understanding to rational understanding.While sorting out the history of publishing in the dimension of time,we can present the dynamic evolution of the publishing phenomenon,and then focus on the driving factors,which are the practical subjects with agency.The studies that take place in the"field"can test the knowledge by applying it into practice,and also help discover and solve problems,so as to achieve the function of social services.Publishing studies should adhere to the per-spectives of dialectical materialism,historical materialism,practical materialism,adhere to the close integration of theory and practice,from"extending knowledge by investigating things"to"the unity of knowledge and action",take the discipline con-struction as an opportunity to accelerate the construction of an independent knowledge system of Chinese publishing studies.
