Based on the data from the 2014 and 2018 floating population dynamic monitoring surveys,an empirical analysis was con-ducted to explore the relationship between housing security, consumption disparities, and the subjective well-being of the float-ing population. The study's results show that consumption disparities have a negative impact on the subjective well-being of the floating population, while housing security measures help to improve it.There is a regulatory mechanism among consumption disparities, housing security, and the subjective well-being of the floating population, where consumption disparities diminish the positive effects of housing security on enhancing the subjective well-being of the floating population.Further mechanism a-nalysis indicates that consumption disparities negatively affect the subjective well-being of the floating population by influencing social status perception, individual emotions, and health. In the meantime, housing security raises the subjective well-being of the floating population by improving the living environment, promoting social integration, and increasing income effects.
