Government Expansion and China's Economic Efficiency:Theory and Empirical Research
The government plays an important role in macroeconomic growth,especially for areas with a low level of development.The role of the government is indispensable,but the negative impact of the government at the micro level exists objectively.A test of provincial panel data based on the past 40 years of reform and opening up showed that government expansion has a posi-tive effect on improving the level of technology,which is pushing the economy closer to the existing boundaries of production possibilities.However,the government's role in technical efficiency,such as the optimal allocation of resources within the boundaries of existing production possibilities was not significant,and it often has a negative impact.Therefore,as the degree of economic development and the technological level approaches the frontier of the world,the difficulty of technological pro-gress becomes more and more difficult,and the rationality of government expansion will gradually weaken,and its negative im-pact on overall economic efficiency will become greater and greater.The power source of economic growth will also tend to de-cay.Sustainable economic development urgently needs innovation driven.In the process of transformation,it is necessary to op-timize and adjust the relationship between the government and the market to build a solid foundation for efficiency.
