Study on Alkaline Urine Treatment of Corn Stalk and Its Heavy Metals Adsorption Properties
Corn stalk is a kind of renewable resource, and its fiber modificated with alkaline urine was a favored material used for heavy metals adsorptions.Orthogonal test was adopted to reduce the lignin content of stalk, and the optimal parameters were as follows:70℃of washing temperature, and 5%and 8%of the addition amount of NaOH and urea, respectively. The treated stalk fiber could adsorb significantly Pb2+,Cd2+,Zn2+ ions. The pseudo-second-order model and the Freundlich equation were better with the adsorption process. These results indi-cated that the adsorption process was endothermic and easy to carry out chemisorption reaction, and the adsorption rate was controlled by intraparticle diffusion and surface adsorption. The modified corn stalk fiber could remove heavy metals from water with high adsorption rate and turn waste into treasure.
