A Research on Interethnic Communication of College Students from the Perspective of Social Space——Based on Field Observations of University X
Based on the theory of social space,a multi-ethnic mixed class in X University is selected as a case study.Through more than two years of participatory observation and in-depth interview, the forms of interethnic communication and interethnic relations of students in the case class are studied in the three spaces of learning, living and entertainment. It is found that the interethnic communication of students in the mixed class presents various patterns in different communication spaces. In the learning space, with the advantage of academic foundation and language expression ability,non-Tibetan students have formed a"biased"interethnic relationship with Tibetan students, and both sides consciously strengthen the boundary. In the living space, some students can communicate well with each other, but language still affects the communication among the mixed class members to a great extent. In the entertainment space, students in mixed classes communicate frequently based on common interests and hobbies, and the interethnic relationship is more balanced. In the future,it is necessary to pay more attention to the micro-environment of university campus and promote the interethnic communication of college students more effectively.
