Perception and the Outline of Sensory Integration Theory
Human sensation is a large and complex system,which can be simply divided into three categories:physiological sensory system(instinctive sensory system),physical presence sensory system(motor sensory system),and external information acquisition sensory system(higher order sensory system).Physiological sensory system is used to maintain the most basic sense of human life.It is the most basic survival instinct,and also a self-protection and defense mechanism of the body.Physical presence sensory system is mainly to maintain the static and dynamic balance of the body and to control the movement.The external information acquisition sensory system is mainly used to acquire information about the outside world.From the perspective of its relationship,physiological sensory system is the basis of the sensory system of human movement and external information acquisition,and plays a basic supporting role,while physiological sensory system mainly presents reflective responses.Sensory integration can be divided into three types:self-adaptive sensory integration,arbitrary sensory integration and generative sensory integration.Self-adaptive sensory integration mainly exists in physical presence sensory system,and arbitrary sensory integration mainly exists in the various reactions of information acquisition and conscious output in the brain center.Generative sensory integration is the highest level of arbitrary sensory integration.From the point of view of growth and development,sense and sensory integration are a natural result of the growth of infants and young children,provided that the infant must have a full range of activities.Therefore,only to create a natural and normal growth and upbringing environment for infants and young children is the proper way to avoid the problem of sensory imbalance.
