Effects of Different Organic Nutrient Solutions on Growing Development and Physiological Characteristics of Flue-cured Tobacco Seedlings
For organic tobacco production it is very important to find out an organic nutrient solution which confers a widely available and convenient source in floating-seedling system. To determine the effects of fertilizer and nitrogen concentrations on growing development of flue-cured tobacco seedlings, the experiment was designed with three fertilizers (conventional fertilizer, biogas slurry and fish protein hydro-organic fertilizer) and three N concentrations (50,150,250 mg/L). The result showed that the tobacco seedlings were small and short under the N concentration of 50 mg/L,about 3. 99 — 11. 34 cm in height. But when the N concentration increased to 150 mg/L, the tobacco seedlings grew well, with height of 16. 95—17. 61 cm. The biogas treatment (150 mg/L N) improved the development of tobacco seedlings, conferring an average height of 16. 95 cm. Their dry and fresh weights of one root were 0. 07 g and 0. 79 g,and the root activity was 307. 36 U/(g · h). Applied by fish protein hydro-organic fertilizer (150 mg/L N) the tobacco seedlings grew well, but the root activity decreased to the lowest,163. 70 U/(g · h). Interestingly, the photosynthetic pigments content and photosynthetic rate in the treatment of fish protein hydro-organic fertilizerwere lower than those under the biogas slurry treatment. Consequently, the growth and development of the seedlings under the biogas slurry treatment of 150 mg/L N was best, which could be used in the organic floating-seedling system.
