Morphology Research of Flower Bud Differentiation of Tree Peony and Herbaceous Peony
Paraffin section technology was used to investigate the flower bud differentiation process of tree peony Fengdanbai and herbaceous peony Fenyunu.The results showed that the flower bud differentiation process of tree peony started from early June to middle September,which lasted about 100 days; the flower bud differentiation process of herbaceous peony started from middle September to early February next year,which lasted about 140 days.Flower bud differentiation process of tree peony and herbaceous peony could be divided into six periods:early stage of flower bud differentiation,bract primordium differentiation stage,sepal primordium differentiation stage,petal primordium differentiation stage,stamen primordium differentiation stage and pistil primordium differentiation stage.The character of flower bud differentiation process of tree peony was continuous and concentrated; the character of flower bud differentiation process of herbaceous peony was continuous and showed two peaks of differentiation periods.
