Effect of Matrix with Different Physical and Chemical Properties on the Growth of Strawberry
The physical and chemical properties of 8 different matrices and their effects on the growth and fruiting of strawberry were studied.Using peat,cotton stalk,mushroom residue,vermiculite and sand as raw materials,the formulation of substrate with soilless culture which was fit for strawberries was screened.The results showed treatment 1(Vpeat∶Vcotton stalk∶Vvermiculite=1∶1∶1) was optimal.The physicochemical properties of substrate was ideal.The fruit firmness,ratio of sugar and acidity,plane height,stem diameter,indexes of fruit shape were not significantly different from the control group(Vpeat∶Vvermiculite=2∶1),but its yield per plant,single fruit weight and soluble solids content were obviously higher than those in the control.Therefore,cotton stalk after composting can replace part peat,and the matrix with Vpeat∶Vcotton stalk∶Vvermiculite=1∶1∶1 is an effective and economical matrix for strawberry industry development.
