The Impact of Interdisciplinary Education on Nurturing Exceptional Innovative Talents—Empirical Evidence from S University's Collegiate System
Interdisciplinary education plays a pivotal role in nurturing exceptional innovative talent,and the collegiate system has the potential to create a dual environment conducive to interdisciplinary education.This research focuses on students majoring in finance and economics disciplines at S University,employing the collegiate system as a quasi-natural experiment for interdisciplinary education.Utilizing a Propensity Score Matching(PSM)approach to address selection bias,this research empirically investigates the influence and mechanisms of interdisciplinary education in cultivating exceptional talents.The findings demonstrate that students exposed to interdisci-plinary education exhibit improved academic performance and enhanced English language proficiency.These outcomes contribute signifi-cantly to the establishment of a strong academic foundation,the enhancement of learning capabilities,and the broadening of internation-al perspectives among students.Consequently,such individuals are molded into outstanding talents equipped with advanced comprehen-sive and innovative abilities.This study provides valuable insights and guidance for higher education institutions.It underscores the piv-otal role of interdisciplinary education in optimizing the academic environment through coordinated efforts among various faculties.Addi-tionally,the study emphasizes the importance of cultivating fundamental knowledge and skills in students to establish a robust foundation for nurturing exceptional and innovative talents.
