What Kind of Incentives Are More Conducive to the Retention of Rural Teachers—An Empirical Analysis Based on the Survey Data of 10 Counties in 5 Provinces(Autonomous Regions)
"Retention"is the basic demand for the construction of rural teachers, and teacher incentives are an important means to promote the retention of rural teachers. The analysis of the survey data of 10 counties in 5 provinces(autonomous regions)found that the atmosphere of respecting teachers and valuing education, the improvement of living conditions, the difficulty of professional title evalua-tion,the improvement of honor, the improvement of social status, the improvement of ability and quality, the local allowance and the living allowance of rural teachers had a significant impact on the willingness of rural teachers to stay, and the impact effect decreased in turn. The enjoyment of social insurance and provident fund and the provision of turnover dormitories had no significant impact on the willingness of rural teachers to stay.Individual characteristics, school characteristics, and location characteristics such as establishment status, school section, and economic region have a significant impact on the retention intention of rural teachers. To promote the reten-tion of rural teachers,we can start from the following three aspects:improve the guaranteed incentive policy, strengthen the develop-ment incentive policy, and explore the compensatory incentive policy.
