How can Postgraduate Education Empower Provincial Innovation—Based on the fsQCA Analysis of 31 Provinces in China
Postgraduate education is a key carrier for realizing innovation in the province,and the innovative elements it gathers are of great significance in promoting the high-quality development of the province.Based on the innovation ecosystem theory,the study integrates the analytical framework of postgraduate education affecting provincial innovation,and applies the fsQCA method to explore the driving path of postgraduate education on provincial innovation using 31 provinces in China as case samples.It is found that a single conditional variable cannot constitute a necessary condition for provincial innovation,but disciplinary advantages and transformation of scientific and technological achievements are more crucial in promoting provincial innovation.The driving paths of postgraduate education to empower high-level provincial innovation include the comprehensive development type of innovation foundation linkage,the innovation resource gathering type led by the transformation of achievements,and the innovation environment synergy type led by disci-plinary advantages.The reasons why postgraduate education fails to empower provincial innovation are complex,mostly related to the lack of two core conditions,namely disciplinary advantages and research resources.The findings of the study not only help to enrich the research scope of innovation ecosystem theory,but also provide practical references for the promotion of provincial innovation by post-graduate education in different regions.
