Objective Based on the theory of time motivation, this study aimed to explore the mediating role of time-related personality traits(future focus and impulsivity)on fatigue and sleep procrastination. Methods 437 undergraduate students from a university in Changsha were selected using random whole-cluster sampling, and questionnaires were administered using the Time Focus Scale(TFS),the Brief Barratt Impulsivity Scale(BBIS),the Sleep Procrastination Scale(BPS),and the Fatigue Scale(FS-14).Results The undergraduate students'future focus score was(19.16±4.07),impulsivity score was(18.30±3.66),sleep procrastination score was(29.98±6.37),and fatigue score was(8.03±3.23);regression analyses showed that future fo-cus negatively predicted bedtime procrastination β(=-0.281,P<0.01),impulsivity positively predicted bedtime procrastina-tion β(=0.297,P<0.01),future focus negatively predicted fatigue β(=-0.017,P<0.01),and impulsivity positively predicted fatigue in a positive correlation β(=0.664,P<0.01);future focus and impulsivity not only directly predicted college students'fatigue symptoms, but also indirectly predicted college students'fatigue symptoms through bedtime procrastination, the direct effects were 0.514 and 0.0586,and the indirect effects were 0.150 and 0.0942,respectively.Conclusion Future focus and impulsivity can not only directly affect college students'fatigue symptoms, but also indirectly predict college students'fatigue symptoms through sleep procrastination.School educators can take effective measures to improve the phenomenon of bedtime procrastination and fatigue among college students by combining relevant factors,so as to improve students'learning status.
