A Comparative Study of Feng Youlan's and Tang Yongtong's Views on Wei and Jin Metaphysics
As the founders of the academic field of Wei and Jin metaphysics,both Feng Youlan and Tang Yongtong have made in-depth studies and insightful assertions,and their academic contributions have been praised by the academic community.Feng Youlan and Tang Yongtong share common ground in the study of Wei and Jin metaphysics;both of them believe that met-aphysics was influenced by the famous schools at the end of the Han Dynasty;both of them are basically the same in terms of main issues and representative figures;and both of them emphasize that Bamboo Grove metaphysics is a supplement to Zheng-shi metaphysics.However,Feng Youlan and Tang Yongtong also differed significantly in their research methods and in their definitions of metaphysics.Studying Feng Youlan's and Tang Yongtong's views on Wei and Jin metaphysics will not only help us to have an overall understanding of Wei and Jin metaphysics from a macroscopic point of view,but will also provide a new di-mension for us to understand Wei and Jin metaphysics research in the modern perspective.
