Maximum likelihood attribute and its application in micro-fractures identification of tight sandstone reservoirs:a case study of Huagang Formation in Xihu Sag
Fractures are important oil and gas storage spaces and fluid migration pathways, especially for deep tight reservoirs,micro-fractures are beneficial for the effective development of deep oil and gas re-sources.On the basis of dip guided filtering processing of post-stack seismic data, the maximum likelihood attribute volume is extracted, and the maximum likelihood attribute is applied to predict the deep micro-fractures of Huagang Formation in Xihu Sag.The results indicate that the display effect of micro-fractures on seismic profiles has been improved, which is beneficial for calculating the density of micro-fracture de-velopment and predicting its distribution on a planar basis. The maximum likelihood attribute has a better characterization effect than the coherent attribute, among which the likelihood attribute has a better charac-terization effect on micro-fractures and a clearer internal structure.Based on qualitative prediction, the quantitative characterization of micro-fractures can be realized by calculating the micro-fracture density.
