Turbidite channel types and sedimentary evolution in Miocene of Block X in Congo Fan Basin
The discovered reserves in Miocene deep-water sedimentary of Congo Fan Basin account for 63%,making it an important exploration play.Based on drilling and seismic data,a sequence framework of Miocene was constructed, and the main sedimentary characteristics of turbidite sandstone reservoirs were an-alyzed.It was pointed out that Block X in Congo fan basin developed three types of turbidite channels:ero-sion type,erosion-aggradation type, and aggradation type, and then the internal filling structure of each channel type has been analyzed. Finally, combined with regional tectonic activities and sea level changes in West Africa, the sedimentary evolution characteristics of turbidite channels were summarized within the se-quence stratigraphic framework. The types, quantities, and scales of turbidite channels in each third order sequence were identified, and the main exploration layers and channel types in the study area were pointed out, providing a sedimentary theoretical basis for the exploration of lithological targets in Block X.
