Study on Correlation of CLIC1 Protein Expression with Invasion and Metastasis of Gastric Cancer
[Objective]To investigate the relationship of chloride intracellularchannel 1 expression (CLIC1)with invasion, metastasis and prognosis of gastric cancer (GC).[Methods]The GC tissues and adjacent tissues were obtained from 94 patients. The expression of CLIC1 mRNA and protein were detected. The correlation of CLIC1 protein expression with gastric cancer clinical characteristics was analyzed.Multivariate Cox proportional model was applied to reveal the influencing factors of poor prognosis of gastric cancer.[Results]The positive expression rate of CLIC1 protein in GC adjacent tissues was 25.0%(23/94),which was significantly lower than that of the GC tissues 86%(81/94)(P <0.01).The positive expression of CLIC1 was not correlated with age, gender, tumor metastasis, however,it was related with tumor differentiation, lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion and TNM stage (all P <0.05).The expression level of CLIC1 mRNA in gastric cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues (P<0.05).The median survival time of patients with low expression of CLIC1 protein was over 29 months, which was signifi cantly longer than that of patients with positive expression for 25 months (P<0.05).The 5year survival rate of patients with low expression of CLIC1 protein was 63.9%,which was significantly higher than 20.7% of patients with positive expression of CLIC1 protein (P <0.05).GC invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, TNM stage and CLIC1 protein expression were independent prognostic factors for gastric cancer survivals (P<0.01).[Conclusion]CLIC1 plays an important role in the genesis and development of gastric cancer.High expression of CLIC1 is closely correlated with the invasion and metastasis of GC.
