Comparison of Multidetector CT Enhanced Scan and Gastrointestinal Radiography for Clinical Staging of Gastric Cancer in the Elderly
[Objective]To compare the diagnostic value of multidetector CT(MDCT)enhanced scan and gastrointestinal radiography for clinical staging of gastric cancer in the elderly.[Methods]A retrospective anal-ysis was conducted on the clinical data of 105 elderly patients with gastric cancer treated in our hospital. All patients underwent either MDCT or gastrointestinal radiography before surgery. The diagnostic values of MDCT and gastrointestinal radiography for gastric cancer in the elderly were compared.[Results]The Kappa values for MDCT in determining T and N stages of gastric cancer compared to pathological diagnosis were 0.864 and 0.849,respectively(P<0.05),indicating excellent consistency. The Kappa value for gastrointesti-nal radiography in determining the T stage was 0.624(P<0.05),indicating a high level of consistency. The accuracy rate of MDCT in diagnosing T stage was 90.00%(45/50),which was higher than that of gastrointes-tinal radiography at 72.73%(40/55),with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).[Conclusion]Com-pared to gastrointestinal radiography,MDCT enhanced scan has higher accuracy in evaluating T and N stages of gastric cancer in the elderly, indicating better clinical application.
