Effect of Sevelamer Combined with Hemoperfusion Therapy on Itching Severity and Calcium-phos-phorus Metabolism Indicators in Patients with Uremic Skin Itching
[Objective]To explore the effect of sevelamer combined with hemoperfusion therapy on itching severity and calcium-phosphorus metabolism in patients with uremic skin itching.[Methods]A total of 76 patients with uremic skin itch-ing admitted to the hospital from July 2022 to February 2024 were randomly divided into two groups using a random num-ber table. The control group(n=38 cases)received blood perfusion therapy, while the observation group(n=38 cases)received sevelamer in addition to hemoperfusion of the control group. The itch severity score, inflammatory factors, calcium and phosphorus metabolism indicator, and quality of life were compared between two groups.[Results]After treatment, the sleep score, symptom and sign score, social psychological score,high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),procalci-tonin(PCT),interleukin-6(IL-6),blood phosphorus, blood calcium, and total parathyroid hormone(iPTH)levels in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The World Health Organization Quality of Life Inventory(WHOQOL-BREF)scores were higher than those in the control group, with significantly statistical differ-ences(P<0.05).[Conclusion]The application of sevelamer combined with blood perfusion therapy has significant thera-peutic effects, which can alleviate itching symptoms, reduce inflammatory reactions, improve calcium and phosphorus me-tabolism indicators, and enhance quality of life.
