Clinical Effect of Double Lipoid-Lowering and Carotid Artery Stent in the Treatment of Severe Carotid Artery Stenosis for Preventing Ischemic Stroke
Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of double lipid-lowering(atorvastatin calcium tablets+probucol tablets)and carotid artery stent(CAS)in the treatment of severe carotid artery stenosis in the prevention of ischemic stroke and the effect on Apolipoprotein(Apo)A1/ApoB.Methods A total of 67 patients with severe carotid artery stenosis were selected from the Second People's Hospital of Xinxiang and the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, including 35 patients in the drug group(oral atorvastatin calcium tablets+probucol tablets)and 32 patients in the operation group(CAS).The patients were followed up for 12 months, and the incidence of ischemic stroke in the territory related to the stenosed vessels was recorded, and the levels of ApoA1/ApoB before and after treatment were recorded. Results The incidence of ischemic stroke in the drug group was higher than that in the surgery group at 6 and 12 months of follow-up,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The ApoA1/ApoB level in the drug group was increased after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion For patients with severe carotid artery stenosis,CAS can effectively reduce the incidence of ischemic stroke in the territory of the stenosis vessel compared with drug therapy alone. However, atorvastatin calcium combined with probucol can also increase the ApoA1/ApoB ratio and reduce the risk of ischemic stroke.
