Retrospective Study on the Causes of Fracture of Implant Repair Abutments and Screws in Molar Area
Objective To analyze the factors affecting the fracture of implant abutment andscrew in molar area and to discuss the preventive measures. Methods The medical records of patients who completed posterior dental implant restoration in the Dental Implant Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2010 to December 2015 were reviewed, and the occurrence and basic data of implant abutment and screw fracture in these patients were statistically analyzed, and the factors affecting the occurence of implant abutment and screw fracture were analyzed. Then discuss the corresponding preventive measures. Results A total of 1 055 patients(500 males and 555 females)were included in this study, and a total of 1 954 implants were implanted. The 12 implants of 12 patients(8 males and 4 females)had broken abuts and screws for implant repair, and the mean age was(48.17±8.04)years.The average functional time of implant was(6.50±1.45)years.Among the 12 patients,11 cases of implant abutment were broken, and 1 case of implant abutment and screw were both broken at the same time. The incidence of implant repair abutment and screw fracture was 0.61%.Conclusion The reasons for the breakage of the implant restoration abutment and its screws include excessive biting force, poor biting habits(night grinding, tight biting, and unilateral chewing),natural teeth in the opposite jaw of the implant, and stress concentration in the abutment caused by the use of the internal connection implant angle abutment.
