Correlation Analysis of Perceived Social Support,Rumination and Self-management Behavior in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients
Objective To investigate the level of perceived social support, rumination and self-management behavior in maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)patients, and to analyze the correlation among the three. Methods From June 2022 to June 2023,the MHD patients admitted to Nanyang Central Hospital were selected as the research objects by convenience sampling method. The surveys were conducted using general information survey, perceived social support scale, simplified Chinese version of event-related rumination questionnaire,self-management scale for hemodialysis patients and upper limb disability assessment scale. Results A total of 229 questionnaires were distributed in this study,of which 216 were effectively recovered, with an effective recovery rate of 94.32%.Two hundred and sixteen patients scored(53.48±5.64)on self-management behavior,(61.89±7.20)on perceived social support,and(31.03±5.17)on rumination contemplation.Pearson correlation analysis showed that the self-management behavior score of MHD patients was positively correlated with the total score of perceived social support and dimension scores, positively correlated with the total score of rumination and purposeful rumination, and negatively correlated with intrusive rumination(P<0.05).Hierarchical regression analysis showed that after controlling for general demographic variables such as education level, household monthly income and upper limb daily activities,in-family support,out-of-home support and purposeful rumination could positively predict self-management behavior scores(P<0.05),which could independently explain 13.3%of the variance in self-management behavior scores. Conclusion Perceived social support and rumination are associated with self-management behaviors in MHD patients.Nursing staff should pay attention to MHD patients with low educational level, low family income and severe upper limb disability.By increasing the support within and outside the family, the level of purposeful rumination and self-management can be improved.
