Effect of Thunder Fire Moxibustion Therapy in Patients with Lower Limb Fractures After Surgery
Objective To explore the effects of thunder fire moxibustion in patients with lower limb fractures. Methods Medical records of lower limb fracture surgery patients admitted to the hospital from April 2022 to June 2023 were selected.According to treatment plans,66 patients were divided into two groups, with 33 cases in each group. Both groups underwent open reduction surgery. The control group received routine treatment after surgery, while the study group received lightning fire moxibustion therapy on the basis of routine treatment. The postoperative pain scores[visual analogue scale(VAS)evaluation],knee joint function[hospital for special surgery knee score(HSS)evaluation],daily living ability[activities of daily living(ADL)evaluation],swelling level, pain mediators[prostaglandin E2(PGE2),leukotriene C4(LTC4),5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)]and oxidative stress indicators[glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX),advanced oxidation protein products(AOPP),malondialdehyde(MDA)]levels of two groups were compared. Results At 7 and 14 days after surgery, the VAS and ADL scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group, while the HSS scores were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),and the levels of PGE2,LTC4,5-HT,AOPP and MDA in the study group were lower than those in the control group, while GSH-PX was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).At 7 and 14 days after surgery, the improvement in swelling degree in the study group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Thunder fire moxibustion can inhibit the release of pain mediators, alleviate oxidative stress reactions, alleviate pain and swelling, improve knee joint function, and enhance quality of life in the treatment of lower limb fractures after surgery.
