Correlation Between Quantitative Index of Brain Waves,DLPFC Metabolite Index of MRS Imaging and Severity of Depression, and the Predictive Value of Combined Detection on the Efficacy of Depression Treatment
Objective To investigate the correlation of(δ+θ)/(α+β)values in C3,T3,FP1,F3 and F7 bands of brain wave quantitative index and the ratio of choline(Cho)/creatine(Cr),N-acetylaspartate(NAA)/Cr and inositol(MI)/Cr of bilateral dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(DLPFC)metabolites in magnetic resonance spectroscopy(MRS)imaging with the severity of depression and the predictive value of the combined test for the efficacy of depression. Methods A total of 236 patients with depression admitted to Zhengzhou Eighth People's Hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected as the depression group, and were divided into mild, moderate, and severe depression according to the severity of their condition.A further 236 healthy individuals who underwent physical examination during the same period were selected as the control group. All of them were subjected to quantitative electroencephalography and MRS examination. The quantitative index of brain waves, including the(8+θ)/(α+β)values of C3,T3,FP1,F3,and F7 frequency bands,as well as the MRS-DLPFC metabolite Cho/Cr,NAA/Cr,and MI/Cr ratios were compared between the two groups. The correlation between each indicator and the severity of depression was analyzed, and the predictive value of combined detection of each indicator for the efficacy of depression treatment was evaluated. Results The values of each band(8+θ)/(α+β)in the depression group were higher than those in the control group, and mildly depressed patients with(8+θ)/(α+β)values in each frequency band<moderate depression<severe depression(P<0.05).The bilateral DLPFC metabolite NAA/Cr in the depression group was lower than that in the control group, and the Cho/Cr in the depression group was higher than that in the control group,NAA/Cr in mildly depressed patients>moderately depressed>severely depressed,Cho/Cr in mildly depressed patients<moderately depressed<severely depressed(P<0.05).The values of each band(8+θ)/(α+β)and bilateral Cho/Cr were positively correlated with the severity of depression, but bilateral NAA/Cr was negatively correlated with the severity of depression(P<0.05).The values of each band(δ+θ)/(α+β)and bilateral Cho/Cr in effective depression patients were lower than those in ineffective patients, and the bilateral NAA/Cr was higher than that in ineffective patients(P<0.05).The AUC of the quantitative brainwave index(δ+θ)/(α+β)values in each frequency band and the combined MRS-DLPFC metabolites Cho/Cr and NAA/Cr for predicting the efficacy of treatment in depressed patients was 0.900.Conclusion The quantitative index of brain wave frequency bands(δ+θ)/(α+β)and MRS-DLPFC metabolites Cho/Cr,NAA/Cr are closely related to the severity of depression in patients, and combined detection has high predictive value for the efficacy of antidepressant treatment.
