Impact of Empowerment Theory Combined with Narrative Nursing on Stigma and Emotional Coping Styles in Patients with PCOS and Infertility
Objective To explore the impact of empowerment theory combined with narrative nursing on stigma and emotional coping styles in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS)and infertility. Methods From October 2021 to February 2023,there were 80 PCOS patients with infertility who received empowerment theory nursing in the gynecology department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were included in the observation group.Another 80 PCOS patients with infertility who were treated with empowerment theory combined with narrative nursing during the same period were selected as the control group. Before and after nursing, patients'stigma[evaluated using the female infertility shame scale(ISS)],emotional coping strategies[evaluated using the simple coping style questionnaire(SCSQ)],and nursing satisfaction(self-made nursing satisfaction survey)were compared. Results Before nursing, there was no statistical difference in the levels of stigma and emotional coping styles between the two groups(P>0.05).After nursing, the observation group had a lower level of stigma,a higher score of emotional coping style,a lower score of positive coping, and a overall satisfaction rate of nursing care compared to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Empowerment theory combined with narrative nursing can alleviate stigma in patients with PCOS and infertility, promote positive emotional coping styles, and improve patient satisfaction with nursing.
