Expression of Carbonic Anhydrase 9 in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Its Prognostic Value
Objective To analyze the expression of carbonic anhydrase 9(CA9)in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC)tissues and its correlations with the clinicopathological features and its prognosis value. Methods The expression levels of CA9 mRNA in 5 pairs of fresh OSCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues were detected by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR).The expression levels of CA9 in 86 paired paraffin-embedded OSCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry. The correlation of CA9 expression with the clinicopathological features was analyzed.Kaplan-Meier survival curve was used to analyze the relationship between the expression of CA9 and the prognosis of OSCC,and Cox model was used to analyze the factors affecting the prognosis of OSCC.The expression of CA9 in OSCC tissues and its prognostic diagnostic value were detected by The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database. Results The expression of CA9 in OSCC tissues was higher than that in para-carcinoma tissues(P<0.05),which was consistent with the results of TCGA database analysis, and its expression was closely related to lymphatic metastasis and clinical stage(P<0.05).The overall survival of OSCC patients with high CA9 expression group was shorter than patients with low CA9 expression(P<0.05).Lymphatic metastasis and CA9 expression were independent predictor of the prognosis of OSCC patients(P<0.05).CA9 may have some diagnostic value for OSCC(P<0.01).Conclusion CA9 is highly expressed in OSCC and is associated with unfavorable prognosis of the patients, and may have some diagnostic value for OSCC.
