Influencing Factors of Nerve Damage After Carotid Endarterectomy in Patients with Carotid Artery Stenosis
Objective To explore the influencing factors of nerve damage in patients with carotid artery stenosis after carotid endarterectomy. Methods Clinical data of 90 patients with carotid artery stenosis treated with carotid endarterectomy in the hospital from January 2020 to January 2023 were retrospectively collected.According to the occurrence of postoperative nerve damage, they were divided into occurrence group(18 cases)and non-occurrence group(72 cases). The clinical data of two groups were compared, and the factors affecting the occurrence of nerve injury after carotid endarterectomy in patients with carotid artery stenosis were analyzed by logistic regression. Results There was no statistical difference in gender, age, body mass index, hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, hyperlipidemia, smoking history, drinking history, operation site, carotid artery blocking time, use of bypass tube during operation between the two groups(P>0.05).History of severe carotid artery stenosis, peripheral artery disease and preoperative serum homocysteine(Hcy)levels of the two groups had statistical significant difference(P<0.05).Through logistic regression analysis, the results showed that severe carotid artery stenosis, history of peripheral artery disease and preoperative serum Hcy levels were risk factors for postoperative nerve damage in patients with carotid artery stenosis after carotid endarterectomy(OR>1,P<0.05).Conclusion The influencing factors of postoperative nerve damage in patients with carotid artery stenosis after carotid endarterectomy mainly include severe carotid artery stenosis, history of peripheral artery disease, and preoperative serum Hcy levels.
