Clinical Efficacy Comparison of Percutaneous Vertebroplasty Assisted by Different Puncture Needles for the Treatment of Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures
Objective To analyze the clinical efficacy of percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP)assisted by different puncture needles in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. Methods A prospective study was conducted, and 86 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures who were scheduled to undergo PVP surgery at Department of Orthopedics of Nanyang First People's Hospital from January 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a conventional group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 43 patients in each group. The conventional group received direct puncture needle assisted PVP treatment, while the observation group received curved angle puncture needle assisted PVP treatment. The surgical indicators, relative height of injured vertebrae before and after operation, pain degree, vertebral dysfunction and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The surgical time, intraoperative bleeding, bone cement injection, and C-arm fluoroscopy frequency of the observation group were all lower than those of the conventional group, with statistical differences(P<0.05).There was a statistical difference in the relative height of the injured vertebra at each time point within the group(P<0.05).There was a statistical difference in visual analogue scale(VAS)scores at different time points within the group(P<0.05).There was a statistical difference in the Oswestry disability index(ODI)within groups at different time points(P<0.05).Compared to the conventional group(11.63%),the incidence of complications in the observation group(6.98%)was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Both straight puncture needle and curved puncture needle assisted PVP treatment can improve the patient's injured vertebral condition, alleviate pain, and improve vertebral function, both of which have good clinical effects. The curved angle puncture needle can shorten the surgical time, reduce the amount of bone cement injection and the number of C-arm fluoroscopy, and have higher safety.
