Efficacy of Microsurgical Varicocelectomy Under the External Ring for the Treatment of Varicocele
Objective To investigate the effect of microscopically ligation of spermatic vein via external circumferential opening on semen quality and recurrence rate of varicocele(VC).Methods A total of 362 VC patients who received diagnosis and treatment in Zhumadian Central Hospital from May 2018 to May 2021 and were followed up until December 2021 were selected as the study objects.According to random number table method, they were divided into observation group(receiving subspermatic vein ligation under microscope via external ring entrance)and control group(receiving subinguinal vein ligation under microscope). There were 181 cases each.Perioperative indexes, efficacy, semen quality, complication rate and recurrence rate were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time of observation group[(43.25±12.32)min]was shorter than that of control group[(49.78±14.02)min](P<0.05).The total effective rate(96.13%),sperm density at 3 months after operation[(33.14±7.05)×109 mL-1],the percentage of grade(a+b)spermatozoa[(59.92± 8.32)%]and spermatozoa survival rate(33.45±5.96)%in the observation group were higher than those of control group[85.64%,(26.04±5.12)×109 mL-1,(50.04±7.09)%,(26.14±4.02)%](P<0.05).The total complication rate(1.10%)and recurrence rate(1.66%)in observation group were lower than those in control group(6.08%,13.26%)(P<0.05).Conclusion Microscopically ligation of subcircumferential spermatic vein is effective in the treatment of VC.
