Influencing Factors of Dry Eye Syndrome After Phacoemulsification in Elderly Cataract Patients
Objective To investigate the factors affecting the occurrence of dry eye in elderly cataract patients after phacoemulsification, and establish a risk prediction model,so as to provide reference for clinical prevention measures. Methods A total of 102 elderly cataract patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from May 2020 to May 2023 were retrospectively selected as the study objects.According to whether dry eye occurred 3 months after phacoemulsification, they were divided into occurrence group(62 cases)and non-occurrence group(40 cases).Clinical data of the two groups were compared to analyze the influencing factors of dry eye. Results Diabetes mellitus, ultrasound emulsification time ≥20 min,Emery lens nuclear hardness grading, and tear fluid interleukin-1β(IL-1β)and interleukin-8(IL-8)levels at admission were independent risk factors for the development of dry eye(P<0.05).Conclusion Diabetes, phacoemulsification time≥20 min,Emery lens nucleus hardness rating and tear IL-1 at admission β、IL-8 levels are an independent risk factor for dry eye syndrome in elderly cataract patients after phacoemulsification.Clinical prevention and control measures can be developed based on these factors to reduce the occurrence of dry eye syndrome.
