Influencing Factors of Idiopathic Dwarfism and the Clinical Diagnostic Value of Serum Irisin and Sex Hormone Binding Globulin
Objective To explore the influencing factors of idiopathic short stature and the expression levels and clinical diagnostic value of serum irisin and sex hormone binding globulin in children with this condition. Methods A total of 86 children with idiopathic short stature who underwent diagnosis and treatment in Nanyang Central Hospital from May 2020 to October 2022 were regarded as the disease group,in addition,86 healthy children who underwent physical examinations were collected as the control group.Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was applied to detect the expression levels of irisin and sex hormone binding globulin in the serum of children in two groups.Logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of idiopathic nanosomia, and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was applied to evaluate the diagnostic value of irisin and sex hormone binding globulin expression levels in children with idiopathic short stature. Results The serum levels of irisin and sex hormone binding globulin in the disease group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that serum irisin, sex hormone binding globulin, sexual development status, and bone age index were the influencing factors for the occurrence of idiopathic short stature(P<0.05).The area under the curve(AUC)of serum irisin and sex hormone binding globulin in diagnosing children with idiopathic short stature were 0.816 and 0.871,respectively.The AUC of the combination of the two in diagnosing children with idiopathic short stature was 0.941,which was better than the single diagnosis of serum irisin and sex hormone binding globulin(Z=3.896,3.500,P<0.05).Conclusion The expression levels of irisin and sex hormone binding globulin in the serum of children with idiopathic short stature are low,and both are influencing factors for the development of idiopathic short stature in children. The combined monitoring of the two has certain application value for early diagnosis of idiopathic short stature.
