Expression of Versican in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Its Clinicopathological Significance
Objective To study the expression of Versican in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and explore its clinicopathological significance. Methods Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues and paracancerous tissues were collected from 47 patients who underwent radical esophagectomy in Zhengzhou People's Hospital.Immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization were used to detect the expression of Versican protein and Versican mRNA,and their clinicopathological significance was analyzed. Results The expressions of Versican protein and Versican mRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues were higher than those in paracancerous tissues(P<0.05).The high expression of Versican protein and Versican mRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues was closely related to the depth of infiltration of the patient's cancer tissue up to the adventitia or surrounding tissue, lymph nodes metastasis and TNM stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ(P<0.05).There was a correlation between the expression of Versican protein and Versican mRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues(r=0.530,P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of Versican in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is related to invasion and migration, and may promote the occurrence and development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
