Effects of Compound Vitamin E Aminobutyrate Combined with Sodium Valproate on Cognitive Function and Serum α-Syn and HSP70 Levels in Children with Epilepsy
Objective To study the effects of compound vitamin E aminobutyrate combined with sodium valproate on cognitive function and serum α-synuclein(α-Syn)and heat shock protein 70(HSP70)levels in children with epilepsy. Methods A total of 116 children with epilepsy were selected from Zhoukou Central Hospital and divided into a combined group and a control group according to the treatment plan, with 58 cases in each group. The control group received sodium valproate treatment, while the combined group received compound aminobutyric acid vitamin E combined with sodium valproate treatment. The clinical efficacy and adverse reaction rates were compared between the two groups,as well as the duration and frequency of seizures, the scores of the Wechsler intelligence scale for children-fourth edition(WISC-Ⅳ)and the mini-mental state examination(MMSE),and the levels of serum-related factors[α-Syn,neuron-specific enolase(NSE),HSP70,brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)]before and after 3 and 6 months of treatment. Results The total clinical effective rate of the combined group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).After 3 and 6 months of treatment, the frequency of seizures in the combined group was lower than that in the control group, and the duration of continuous seizures was shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of WISC-Ⅳ and MMSE were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).The levels of serum HSP70,α-Syn,and NSE were lower than those in the control group, while the level of BDNF was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination treatment of compound vitamin E aminobutyrate and sodium valproate can effectively improve the cognitive function and neurological function of children with epilepsy, reduce the duration and frequency of seizures, and enhance the efficacy and safety.
