A Qualitative Research on Perceptions and Experience of Senior Nurses'Presenteeism
Objective To explore the perceptions and experience of senior nurses'presenteeism,in order to develop intervention strategies to reduce senior nurses'presenteeism for hospitals administrators.Methods Semi-structured interviews were carried out by phenomenology,15 senior nurses from two level A tertiary hospitals in Zhengzhou were recruited,and Colaizzi 7-step analysis method was applied to analyze,induce,and refine themes of interview data.Results The high qualification nurses of the feelings and experiences of presenteeism behavior can be divided into four themes:the inherent reason and professional characteristics,professional pride and tradition of dedication,the negative effects of giving,expect something in return-desire for understanding and care.Conclusion Due to the particularity of the work of medical staff,their presenteeism will not only affect their work efficiency,but also pose a threat to the health of patients.Hospital administrators should pay close attention to the physical and mental health of senior nurses,and make some adjustments at the management level to reduce the frequency of presenteeism and its negative effects,so as to improve the quality of care and patients'safety.
