Efficacy of Esketamine Nasal Spray in Patients with Severe Depression
Objective To explore the efficacy of Esketamine nasal spray in rapidly relieving severe depression patients with suicidal thoughts and improving their depressive symptoms.Methods A total of 84 patients with severe depression diagnosed and treated from March 2021 to March 2023 in Rongkang Hospital of Henan Province were selected as the research objects,and were divided into the control group(treated with conventional antidepressants)and the observation group(treated with Esketamine nasal spray on the basis of conventional antidepressants)according to the method of random number table,with 42 cases in each group.The total effective rate,Hamilton depression scale 17(HAMD-17)score,self-rating idea of suicide scale(SIOSS)score,tenascin-C,nesfatin-1,dopamine(DA),serotonin(5-HT),cortisol(COR)were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Repeated measurement analysis of variance showed that there were differences in HAMD-17,SIOSS score,tenascin C,nesfatin-1 existence time,inter group and time interaction(P＜0.05).At 4 and 12 weeks of treatment,the HAMD-17,SIOSS score,tenascin C,nesfatin-1 of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P＜0.05).After 12 weeks of treatment,the DA and 5-HT levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,while the COR was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Esketamine nasal spray is beneficial to reduce depression and suicidal ideation in patients with severe depression.
