Efficacy of Intermaxillary Traction with Traction Screws Combined with Absorbable Micropolymer Internal Fixation in the Treatment of Jaw Fracture
Objective To investigate the efficacy of intermaxillary traction with traction screws combined with absorbable micropolymer internal fixation in the treatment of jaw fracture.Methods A total of 280 patients with jaw fractures who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from May 2021 to August 2022 were selected,and randomly divided into the combination group and the control group by random number table method,with 140 patients in each group.The control group was treated with intermaxillary traction using traction screws combined with titanium plate internal fixation,while the combination group was treated with intermaxillary traction using traction screws combined with absorbable micropolymer internal fixation.Efficacy in the two groups at 3 months after surgery was evaluated.The two groups were compared in terms of oral function and periodontal index before surgery and at 6 months after surgery.The incidence of complications within 6 months after surgery was calculated.Results Three months after surgery,the excellent and good rate in the combination group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The scores of temporomandibular joint function,mouth opening and occlusal relationship in the two groups 6 months after operation were lower than those before operation,and scores in the combination group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Plaque index(PI),debris index(DI)and gingival index(GI)in the two groups increased,but the three indexes in the combination group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The total incidence of complications in the combination group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Intermaxillary traction with traction screws combined with absorbable micropolymer internal fixation is effective in the treatment jaw fracture.The combined treatment can improve patients'temporomandibular joint function,and reduce the impact on periodontal tissues,with good safety.
