Application of Borescope in the Quality Monitoring of Lumen of Digestive Endoscopy Cleaning
Objective To compare the application of borescope and conventional methods in evaluating the cleaning effect of digestive endoscope lumens, and explore the feasibility of using borescope in daily quality monitoring of digestive endoscope cleaning. Methods From July to September 2023,100 post use gastroscopes from the Henan Provincial People's Hospital's Digestive Endoscopy Center were selected.Using a random number table method, the endoscope was divided into a borescope group and a conventional group, with 50 borescopes in each group. The cleaning quality of the outer surface of the endoscope in both groups was checked by visual inspection, and the cleaning quality of the endoscope lumen in both groups was checked by borescope and conventional air gun blowing method. Results The number of unqualified endoscope cleaning detected by the borescope group(16 items)was higher than that of the conventional group(3 items),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The reason for the unqualified cleaning of the three endoscopes in the conventional group is residual dirt.Among the reasons for the unqualified cleaning of the endoscopes in the borescope group,9(56.25%)are residual white small particle pollutants in the suction pipeline,4(25.00%)are residual dirt, and 3(18.75%)are rust stains on the bottom edge of the gas/water injection piston port. Conclusion Compared with conventional inspection methods, endoscopic nurses can directly observe the lumen of the endoscope, accurately judge the cleaning quality inside the endoscope lumen, make up for the shortcomings of conventional inspection methods, and improve the detection rate of unqualified endoscope cleaning. It can be used as a method for monitoring the quality and effectiveness of daily cleaning of digestive endoscopes.
