Preliminary Application of the 3D Printing Surgical Template in Orthognathic Surgery for Dental-Maxillofacial Deformities in Patients with Cleft Lip Palate
Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of digital-aided design and three dimension(3D)printing in the orthognathic surgery for dental-maxillofacial deformities in patients with cleft lip palate. Methods A total of 11 cases of dental-maxillofacial deformities in patients with cleft lip palate in Nanyang Stomatological Hospital from May 2020 to April 2022 were selected.Digital craniomaxillofacial-dentition model was established by combined craniofacial CT and laser-scanned dentition model.Based on this model, surgical planning, simulation and postoperative prediction were performed before surgery.Surgical accuracy was evaluated by comparing the postoperative outcomes with the preoperative surgical planning data, and statistical analysis was performed. Results All patients underwent the orthognathic surgery successfully according to the digital orthognathic surgery design and procedure, and the operation guide plates were applied smoothly. There were no differences between the postoperative actual data and the preoperative planning(P>0.05).Conclusion The digital technology aided design and 3 D printing surgical guide plate can improve the accuracy of orthognathic surgery for the dental-maxillofacial deformities in patients with cleft lip palate.
