Curative Effect of Hyaluronic Acid Injection on Chronic Tennis Elbow
Objective To compare efficacy of hyaluronic acid injection and corticosteroid hormone injection in the treatment of chronic tennis elbow. Methods A retrospective analysis of 80 cases of chronic tennis elbow patients who underwent injection therapy at Henan Provincial Third People's Hospital from January 2021 to December 2022.Based on the different injection drugs, they were divided into two groups:the hyaluronic acid group with 36 cases, and the corticosteroid group with 44 cases.Pain visual analog scale(VAS)and Mayo elbow joint score were used for efficacy evaluation before treatment,1 month after treatment,3 months after treatment, and 1 year after treatment. Results The VAS scores of both groups decreased after treatment. The VAS scores in the hyaluronic acid group were better than those before treatment at 1 month,3 months, and 1 year after treatment(P<0.05).The VAS scores in the corticosteroid group were better than those before treatment at 1 month and 3 months after treatment(P<0.05).In comparison between groups, the VAS scores in the hyaluronic acid group were better than those in the corticosteroid group at 1 month,3 months, and 1 year after treatment(P<0.05).The Mayo scores of both groups increased after treatment. The Mayo scores in the hyaluronic acid group were better than those before treatment at 1 month and 3 months after treatment(P<0.05).The corticosteroid group was better than before treatment at 1 month after treatment(P<0.05).In comparison between groups, the Mayo scores in the hyaluronic acid group were better than those in the corticosteroid group at 1 month,3 months, and 1 year after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion Local injection of hyaluronic acid and corticosteroid hormones at the pain point has been proven effective in treating chronic tennis elbow.Hyaluronic acid injection therapy is superior and more enduring in pain relief and functional improvement.
