Effect of Different Administration Routes of Vancomycin in the Treatment of Infectious Endophthalmitis
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of different administration routes of vancomycin in the treatment of infectious endophthalmitis. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of 90 patients(90 eyes)with infectious endophthalmitis admitted to the Zhengzhou Second Hospital from January 2021 to September 2023.Patients who received intravitreal injection combined with intravenous infusion of vancomycin were included in the observation group, while patients who only received intravitreal injection of vancomycin were included in the control group. The pathogenic factors, admission visual acuity, and treatment outcomes of the two groups of patients were compared. Results There was no statistically difference in gender, age, pathogenic factors, and admission vision between the observation group and the control group(P>0.05).After treatment with vancomycin, there was no statistically difference in visual acuity between patients at discharge(P>0.05).Conclusion Vancomycin is effective in treating infectious endophthalmitis. The two treatment plans have similar effects, indicating that only intravitreal injection of vancomycin can be used in clinical treatment of infectious endophthalmitis, reducing medical procedures, reducing adverse drug reactions, and saving medical expenses.
