Effect of Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy in Patients with Esophageal Cancer
Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of intensity modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)in patients with esophageal cancer. Methods A total of 80 patients with esophageal cancer admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology were divided into the control group(40 cases)and the observation group(40 cases). The cases were selected from May 2021 to May 2022,and the patients were grouped according to random number table method. Both groups were given concurrent chemoradiotherapy, and the control group was given synchronous conformal radiotherapy, the observation group was given synchronous IMRT therapy, both group were treated for 4 cycles of treatment. The short-term efficacy after 4 cycles of treatment, the scores of the quality of life questionnaire-oesophageal cancer module(QLQ-OES24)at different time points, the levels of immune function and tumor markers before and after 4 cycles of treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The short-term efficacy after 4 cycles of treatment was higher in the observation group(70.00%)than in the control group(47.50%)(P<0.05).The scores of QLQ-OES24 in both groups after 4 cycles of treatment,1 month after treatment increased compared with before treatment, and the scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).The level of serum immunoglobulin A(IgA),immunoglobulin M(IgM),and peripheral blood CD3+and CD4+in two groups after 4 cycles of treatment decreased compared with those before treatment, but the levels of observation group were higher than those of control group(P<0.05).The level of serum heat shock protein 90α(HSP90α),recombinant cytokeratin fragment antigen 21-1(Cyfra21-1),carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125),and squamous cell carcinoma antigen(SCC-Ag)in two groups after 4 cycles of treatment decreased compared with those before treatment, and the levels of observation group were lower than those of control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of MRT in patients with esophageal cancer can improve the short-term curative effect, reduce the level of tumor markers, have little effect on immune function and improve the quality of life.
