Application of Personal Digital Assistant Combined ABCDEFP Model in Day Surgery Postanesthesia Care Unit Shift Handover
Objective To explore the effectiveness of personal digital assistant(PDA)combined with ABCDEFP model in day surgery postanesthesia care unit(PACU)shift handover.Methods This study was a non-simultaneous controlled trial,in which 100 patients admitted to the PACU after surgery from August to October 2023 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were selectd as the control group,and 100 patients admitted to the PACU after surgery from November to December 2023 were selected as the observation group.In the control group,patients were transferred to the PACU and discharged according to the conventional oral and written handover procedures.In the observation group,patients were transferred to the PACU and discharged according to the newly established PDA combined with the ABCDEFP handover model.The handover quality scores,transfer time,and incidence of adverse events during the process of transferring from the operating room to PACU between two groups were compared.Results The quality of handover scores were higher in the observation group than in the control group,the time to transfer patients was shorter in the observation group than in the control group,and the total adverse event rate was lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The PDA combined with ABCDEFP model is conducive to improving the work efficiency of PACU nurses,improving the quality of nursing and ensuring the perioperative safety of patients.
