Current Situation and Influencing Factors of Thirst in Patients Undergoing Digestive Endoscopy Surgery
Objective To analyze the incidence and influencing factors of thirst in patients undergoing digestive endoscopy surgery. Methods A total of 417 patients who were admitted to the Department of Gastroenterology of Henan Provincial People's Hospital from March 2022 to March 2023 and underwent endoscopic surgery were selected as the survey subjects.Thirst digital rating scale and hospital anxiety and depression scale were used as evaluation tools to conduct a face-to-face questionnaire survey on the patients. And the influencing factors of thirst in patients were determined through binary logistic regression. Results The incidence of postoperative thirst in 417 patients was 90.9%,184 patients(44.1%)experienced mild thirst,166 patients(39.8%)experienced moderate thirst, and 29 patients(7.0%)experienced severe thirst. The results of logistic regression analysis showed that the duration of preoperative and postoperative water deprivation,as well as anxiety scores were the influencing factors of thirst(P<0.05).Conclusion The incidence of postoperative thirst in patients undergoing digestive endoscopy surgery is relatively high.Nursing staff should pay attention to the management of thirst in patients undergoing digestive endoscopy surgery, comprehensively improve their awareness, importance, and management ability of perioperative thirst issues, and improve the comfort of surgical treatment and nursing job satisfaction of patients.
