Effect of early micro-ecological enteral nutrition on immune function and gastrointestinal function recovery in elderly patients with postoperative esophageal cancer
Objective To investigate the effect of early micro-ecological enteral nutrition on immune function and gas-trointestinal function of elderly patients with esophageal cancer after operation.Methods A total of 268 elderly patients with esophageal cancer who underwent surgical treatment in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from Jan 2020 to Jan 2023 were included retrospectively,and were divided into the early enteral nutrition group(n=137)and the parenteral nutrition group(n=131)according to different ways of postoperative nutritional support.The nutritional status,immune function,postoperative gastrointestinal function,postoperative complications and gastrointestinal adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results At 8 days after operation,ALB,TP,TRF and PA levels in the early enteral nutrition group were significantly higher than those of the parenteral nutrition group(P<0.05).At 8 days after operation,serum immunoglobulin IgA,IgG,IgM and T lymphocyte subsets CD3+,CD4+,CD4+/CD8+in the early enteral nutrition group were significantly higher than those of the parenteral nutrition group,and CD8+was sig-nificantly lower than that of the parenteral nutrition group(P<0.05).The recovery time of bowel sounds,the first ex-haust time and the first defecation time in the early enteral nutrition group were significantly shorter than those of the parenteral nutrition group(P<0.05).The incidence of com-plications between the two groups(5.84%vs 4.58%)has no significant difference(P>0.05).The incidence of ad-verse reactions of the early enteral nutrition group(6.57%)was significantly lower than 16.03%of the parenteral nutri-tion group(P<0.05).Conclusion Early micro-ecological enteral nutrition after esophageal cancer surgery can sig-nificantly improve the nutritional function of elderly patients with esophageal cancer,rapidly improve the immune func-tion,promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function,reduce the incidence of postoperative adverse reactions,and ben-efit the postoperative rehabilitation of patients,which is worthy of clinical application.
