Effects of vestibular rehabilitation training combined with anti-anxiety therapy on recurrence, vestibular function, anxiety and depression in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
Objective To study the clinical effect of vestibular rehabilitation training combined with anti-anxiety thera-py in benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV)patients. Methods Totally 72 patients with BPPV from November 2021 to March 2023 were divided into routine group and treatment group by double-blind grouping criteria, with 36 pa-tients in each group. The conventional group received conventional vestibular rehabilitation training treatment, while the treatment group received vestibular rehabilitation training combined with anti-anxiety therapy. The clinical effects,anx-iety and depression status were compared between the two groups, and vestibular function and recurrence were assessed. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group was 97.22%,higher than that of the conventional group(80.56%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores of anxiety rating Scale(SAS)and Depression Rating Scale(SDS)in the treatment group were(48.67±1.21)and(51.37±1.08),both lower than those before treatment and of the conventional group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Ves-tibular symptom index(VSI)and Vestibular dysfunction Rating Scale of daily activities(VADL)in the treatment group after treatment were(16.49±2.16)and(30.93±3.36)points,both lower than before treatment and routine group, and BBS score was higher than before treatment and routine group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The recurrence rate of treatment group(2.78%)was lower than that of conventional group(16.67%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Vestibular rehabilitation training combined with anti-anxiety therapy for BPPV patients is effective, can improve the psychological state and vestibular function, control the recurrence rate, and is suitable for further promotion.
