Prevalence of genital tractgroup B streptococcus infection in late pregnancy in Jiaozuo and the impact on pregnancy outcomes
Objective To analyze the prevalence of genital tract group B streptococcus(GBS)infection in late pregnancy in Jiaozuo and the pregnancy outcomes. Methods A total of 487 pregnant women in late pregnancy who received prenatal examination at three hospitals in Jiaozuo from March 2021 to April 2023 were selected.Their perianal or vaginal secretions were collected for GBS culture. Then, the pregnant women were divided into infected group and uninfected group according to whether they had GBS infection.Coagulation function and pregnancy outcomes of the two groups were compared.Women in the infected group were divided into sufficient treatment group(sufficient antibiotic prevention during childbirth),insuf-ficient treatment group(insufficient antibiotic prevention during childbirth),and untreated group.Pregnancy outcomes of these groups were comparatively analyzed. Results Of the 487 pregnant women,47 had GBS infection, with an infection rate of 9.65%(47/487).Activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT)and plasma prothrombin time(PT)of the infec-ted group were shorter than those of the uninfected group, and fibrinogen(FIB)level was higher than that of the uninfect-ed group(P<0.05).The incidence rates of puerperal infection, neonatal pneumonia and low birth weight infants in the infected group(6.38%,8.51%and 14.89%)were higher than those in the uninfected group(1.14%,2.05%and 3.86%)(P<0.05).The incidence rates of fetal distress and low birth weight infants in the sufficient treatment group were lower than those in the untreated group(P<0.05).The incidence of premature rupture of membranes in the untreat-ed group was higher than that in the insufficient treatment group(P<0.05).Conclusion The genital tract GBS infection rate in late pregnancy in Jiaozuo is high, and it has adverse effect on maternal coagulation function and pregnancy outcomes as well as neonates.Sufficient antibiotic anti-infection treatment is helpful for prevention.
