Clinical efficacy of mesalazine combined with Bifidobacterium triad in the treatment of ulcerative colitis and its influence on the levels of inflammatory factors and oxidative stress indexes
Objective To investigate the efficacy of mesalazine combined with bifidobacterium triad in the treatment of ul-cerative colitis and the effects on the levels of inflammatory factors tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reactive protein(CRP)and serum malondialdehyde(MDA)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)as oxidative stress indexes.Methlds A total of 102 patients with ulcerative colitis admitted to our hospital from June 2022 to June 2023 were selected,and divided into different groups according to drug administration.51 cases receiving mesalazine en-teric-coated tablets were selected as the control group,and 51 cases receiving mesalazine enteric-coated tablets com-bined with bifidobacterium triple live bacteria were selected as the observation group.The therapeutic effect,inflammatory factor levels,oxidative stress indexes,intestinal flora and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of observation group was 96.08%,which was higher than that of control group(80.39%),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistical significance in the levels of TNF-α,IL-6 and CRP between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment,the levels of TNF-α,IL-6 and CRP in the observation group were(17.12±2.84)pg/mL,(72.53±7.36)pg/mL and(21.32±5.24)mg/L,respectively.All of them were lower than control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment,there was no statistical significance in MDA and SOD levels between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,MDA(4.97±0.59)nmol/mL in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,and SOD(253.94±10.41)U/L in the observation group was higher than that in the control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05).There was no statistical signifiicance in the quantities of Lactobacillus,bifidobacterium and Escherichia coli between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment,the quantities of Lactobacillus and bifidobacteri-um in the observation group were(8.87±0.72)lgCFU/g and(8.64±0.37)lgCFU/g,respectively,which were high-er than those in the control group.Escherichia coli(6.23±0.43)lgCFU/g was lower than that of control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 5.88%,significant-ly lower than that in the control group(19.61%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of ulcerative colitis,mesalazine combined with bifidobacterium triple live bacteria can a-chieve significant efficacy,which can promote the improvement of inflammation,inhibition of oxidative stress response,optimization of intestinal flora,and reduce complications.
