Effects of complications on treatment and prognosis of acute respiratory distress syndrome
Objective To investigate the effect of complications on the treatment and survival of patients with acute respir-atory distress syndrome(ARDS)after admission. Methods Totally 247 ARDS patients who were treated with invasive or noninvasive mechanical ventilation in the ICU of Anyang Peoples Hospital in January 2020 and April 2022 were selected.Logistic regression was used to analyze the impact of the number of complications and single complication on the prognosis indicators of ARDS patients, such as hospital death,ICU death, and the use of life support devices. Results Compared with patients without complications, patients with complications have a longer time to receive noninvasive MV and a shorter time to receive invasive MV.Chronic respiratory failure, congestive heart failure, chronic renal failure, chronic liver fail-ure,immune insufficiency, diabetes, and a large number of complications were the risk factors for death in ICU of ARDS patients(P<0.05).Chronic respiratory failure, congestive heart failure, chronic renal failure, chronic liver failure,im-mune insufficiency, diabetes, and a large number of complications were the risk factors for hospital death of ARDS patients(P<0.05).Chronic respiratory failure, congestive heart failure, chronic renal failure, chronic liver failure, immune in-sufficiency,diabetes,and a large number of complications were the risk factors for the use of life support devices in pa-tients with ARDS(P<0.05).Conclusion Most patients with ARDS have obvious complications. They receive less treat-ment and have poor prognosis.Strengthening the treatment of these patients must be the focus of future clinical research.
